HOW DID WE GET HERE...?

The past 4 and 1/2 years have been quite an adventure. Honestly, I would never have guessed that this was the path that God would have my wife and I take. Jackie and I had a great start to our newly married life. We both had good jobs and were able to purchase a great little house within our first year of marriage. The next step for us, adding to our family, something we both greatly desired. After a year and half of not being able to get pregnant, we sought advice from doctors and a specialist. They concluded that our bodies were normal and nothing was "physically" wrong with us. Well, the Lord, as He always does, had a different plan. After another year passed we began to pray about adopting. I had always wanted to adopt, but thought that would come after having biological kids. From that moment on, the Lord has been leading us down one of the most crazy, exciting, faith building paths of our life. One that we would not have discovered had things gone our OWN way. But, as the bible says,

"A man's heart plans his ways, but the LORD directs his steps" (Proverbs 16:9).

10.01.09 YWAM orientation meeting

11.10.09 application sent to YWAM/CHI

11.17.09 application under review

11.18.09 adoption file opened

2.18.10 fingerprinted in Tacoma

3.08.10 call from our social worker

3.10.10 1^st home study meeting

3.17.10 2^nd home study meeting

3.24.10 final home study meeting

4.19.10 fingerprint clearance

5.19.10 received 1st draft of home study

5.28.10 home study OFFICIALLY approved

6.10.10 received USICS appointment

6.22.10 biometrics fingerprint appt

7.06.10 received our I-171H form

7.08.10 PRE-referral for baby girl

7.13.10 dossier authenticated @ capital

7.15.10 dossier sent for federal authentication

7.22.10 dossier approved and sent to Ethiopia

7.29.10 received official referral

8.12.10 referral shipped to Ethiopia

8.12.10 courts close in Addis Ababa

9.16.10 received email...courts reopen 9.28.10

10.15.10 recieved court date, 11.12.10

11.05.10 depart for Ethiopia

11.16.10 returned home safe and sound!

11.23.10 recieved final letter of approval, Ayantu Faith is officially a Sanchez...!

Currently...waiting for an embassy date, to bring her home!
